It is also packed with vitamins in particular B12 (aids the nervous system) and also thiamine (B1) which cats need in abundance. It is one of the best sources for the mineral selenium which helps protect the immune system. As it is so nutrient dense, Heart should only constitute around 10% of their overall diet. It is not classified as offal (secreting organs) for pet food, so the 10% is in additional to 10% maximum of offal.
